Safari & Northern lights with Sebastian & Line

Highlights

• 3-day dog ​​sledding tour : For 3 days we drive our dog
• sleds through snow-covered landscapes and spend the night in rustic huts in the
  middle of nature.
• snowmobile tour: Immediately after landing we change to snowmobiles and drive through the white winter landscape to our first
  accommodation.
• Arctic River Floating: Equipped with a snow suit, dry suit
  and thick neoprene gloves, we float down a river surrounded by nothing but
  silence.
• Sauna & ice bathing: As befits a real Finnish
  experience, we will also spend time together in the sauna and then swim in the
  ice hole.

We meet in the airport hotel lobby and discuss what to expect in the next few
days.

7:30pm:
Dinner, Helsinki

We have a
delicious dinner together before we all fall into bed tired and excited at the
same time!

28.1.2024: Snowmobile Safari & Arctic River Floating

7:00 a.m.: Flight Helsinki – Kuusamo

Early in
the morning we take Finnair to Kuusamo.

approx.
09:00 am: Snowmobile tour from Kuusamo Airport

The start
will be adventurous! In groups of two we get on snowmobiles at the airport
and drive 20 kilometers through forests and on frozen lakes to our
accommodation in Ruka. We also stop for lunch.

1:30 p.m.: Check-In Hotel, Ruka

We check
into our cozy hotel. If you like, you can explore the town of Ruka a
little before the next adventure awaits.

 4:00
p.m.: Arctic River Floating, Ruka

In the dark
and in sub-zero temperatures, we glide down an arctic river in dry suits - a
magical experience.

7:30pm:
Dinner, Ruka

In the
Northern Lights Restaurant, just around the corner from our hotel, delicious
regional dishes await us.

21:00
Northern Lights, Ruka

Every
evening we have the opportunity to see the Northern Lights when the sky is
clear.

Monday,
January 29, 2024: Snowshoe hike, Ruka

9:00 a.m.: Breakfast, Ruka

 A
wonderful snow adventure is about to begin, so we have a good breakfast first.

With our
guide we go up to the highest point in the province: an old fire brigade
lookout tower on the Valtavaara.

3:00 p.m.: Lunch, Ruka

After our
snowshoe hike we strengthen ourselves with a warm lunch.

4:30 p.m.: Check-In Magical Ponds, Ruka

We check
into our modern glass lodges at Magical Ponds and if we're lucky we can see the
Northern Lights from bed today. Until dinner we relax right here or in the
sauna.

We enjoy a
traditional Finnish dinner in a rustic hut not far from the hotel.

Tuesday,
January 30, 2024: start of the husky safari

approx.
9:30 a.m.: Departure Ruka – Husky farm

Our taxi
takes us to the husky farm in Taivalkoski, where the sled dogs are already
waiting and howling for us, full of anticipation.

11:00 am: start of the husky safari, Taivalkoski

After an
introduction, the group separates into two teams of 6 people
each. Everyone drives their dog sled through a beautiful white winter
landscape until we meet again for lunch.

3:30 p.m.: Arrival at the wilderness hut

After
lunch, each team continues to a hut in the middle of nature. We take care
of our huskies, relax in the sauna, jump into the ice hole and eat a
traditional Finnish dish. Then we snuggle up in our sleeping bags and fall
asleep dead tired.

We spend
the whole day with our huskies in the snowy wilderness and we all meet for
lunch by the fire. Then it's back to the huts with the dog sled.

Thursday,
February 1st, 2024: End of the husky safari

2:00 p.m.: return to husky safari, Taivalkoski

After three
days with the huskies, our adventure comes to an end and we are driven to our
last hotel by taxi.

Showers,
sauna and relaxation are on the program.

A last
dinner together to review these unforgettable days and enjoy the moment.

A last
breakfast together in Finland is on the agenda before we slowly say goodbye to
this special spot on earth.

If you
haven't had enough of adventures in the snow, you can go on a short snowshoe
hike or ski tour. A walk or cross-country skiing are also possible, with
approximately 1.5 hours available.

Our taxi
takes us to Kuusamo Airport.

2:00 p.m.: Flight Kuusamo – Helsinki

Once again
we can enjoy a view of the winter landscape from above.
